Social Worker with Specialization in Child and Youth Care
My name is Shilan Khadiri, and I have a strong background in social work, with a particular focus on children and young people in vulnerable situations. After completing the Social Work program at Örebro University (2010–2013), I further specialized in Signs of Safety (SofS) and working with children exposed to threats or violence in close relationships. My experience spans over a decade of practical work in social services, particularly in child protection.
Since 2013, I have worked in Botkyrka Municipality, beginning as a social worker in the investigation unit for children and young people. In this role, I handled and documented complex cases, including investigations that led to LVU decisions for children exposed to violence. Between 2017 and 2019, I served as a senior social worker, supervising colleagues in challenging investigations.
In 2019, I transitioned to the role of child therapist, supporting children who had experienced violence in close relationships. From 2020, I have been working as a family therapist within the child protection team, focusing on long-term interventions for children at serious risk who require rigorous planning. My work is grounded in Safety Planning according to Signs of Safety, ensuring interventions are structured, collaborative, and legally sound.
My expertise in Signs of Safety informs a solution-focused, collaborative approach, where the child’s network and the family’s own resources are central to investigations and interventions. By combining practical experience with therapeutic insight, I support sustainable outcomes for children, families, and social services alike.
